2026 Alumni Co-Creation Workshop
From Knowledge Sharing to Co-Creation

UNITAR CIFAL Jeju is pleased to announce the 2026 Alumni Co-Creation Workshop and invite CIFAL Jeju alumni from across the Asia-Pacific region to submit a case as a knowledge contribution to the workshop.
The workshop will bring together alumni to exchange practical implementation experiences, examine common challenges across different local contexts, and jointly develop actionable insights for strengthening local ownership and accountability in translating global agendas into sustainable local action.
Background
Since 2022, CIFAL Jeju has organized the Alumni Capacity-Building Workshop as a platform for alumni to share how knowledge and skills acquired through CIFAL Jeju programmes have been translated into sustainable development initiatives within their own local contexts.
In 2026, the workshop is being redesigned as an Alumni Co-Creation Workshop, moving beyond the traditional sharing of individual best practices toward collective reflection, cross-context learning, and practice-based knowledge generation.
This year's workshop will focus on the following annual inquiry:
How can local actors strengthen ownership and accountability in translating global agendas into sustainable local action across different contexts?
Rather than seeking only successful cases, the workshop welcomes practice-based contributions that reflect concrete implementation experiences, including ongoing initiatives, adaptations, challenges, limitations, and unresolved questions.
Selected contributions will serve as the foundation for case-based peer learning, collective sensemaking, and co-creation throughout the workshop.
Objectives
The workshop aims to:
- Provide a collaborative platform for alumni to critically reflect on and exchange concrete experiences in translating global agendas into local action.
- Explore how local ownership is shaped by different institutional, social, and sectoral contexts.
- Facilitate cross-context learning by identifying common patterns, contextual differences, enabling conditions, constraints, and trade-offs across alumni experiences.
- Co-create adaptable principles and practical insights that participants can apply to their own initiatives and share within the wider CIFAL Jeju alumni network.
Target Participants
The workshop is open to CIFAL Jeju alumni from the Asia-Pacific region who:
- Have participated in a CIFAL Jeju capacity-building programme;
- Have direct experience in implementing or supporting a locally grounded sustainable development initiative;
- Can contribute a concrete experience related to the workshop's annual learning lens, including challenges, adaptations, limitations, or unresolved questions; and
- Are willing and able to actively participate throughout the workshop as co-creators, rather than only as case presenters.
Eligible experiences may come from diverse thematic areas, including climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, sustainable tourism, education, governance, and community development.
Support for Selected Contributors
Selected contributors will receive:
- Round-trip international airfare, subject to CIFAL Jeju travel policy
- Hotel accommodation for three nights
- Lunch on Day 1 and Day 2 as part of the official programme
- Certificate of Completion
- Opportunity to contribute to CIFAL Jeju's Alumni Knowledge Platform
Submission Process
Interested alumni are invited to submit one concrete implementation experience using the attached Knowledge Contribution Template.

- Review the Concept Note for detailed information on the workshop objectives and programme structure.
- Review and complete the Knowledge Contribution Template, following the submission guidelines provided.
- Submit the completed template via email by the deadline below.

Contributions will be assessed based on their relevance to the annual inquiry, specificity of context, actions and evidence, quality of reflection and learning, and value for peer exchange and collective problem-solving. Cohort diversity and balance across local contexts will also be considered.
Please note that contributions do not need to present a perfect or completed success story. Concrete insights, adaptations, tensions, limitations, and unanswered questions can be equally valuable for collective learning.
