Postponement of workshop on 'Enhancing a Victim-Centered Approach'

Following to the official letter of cancellation dated 19th June 2015, the UNITAR CIFAL Jeju/JITC and the RSO of the Bali Process have had to postpone the ‘Enhancing a Victim-Centerd Approach: Identification, Assistance, and Protection of Trafficking Victims in the Asia-Pacific Region’ training workshop which was to be held from 22-25 June 2015 in Jeju, Republic of Korea.

We have closely monitored the outbreak of MERS-CoV and the risk of infection is still minimal outside of the medical institutions. According to WHO statement released 17 June, WHO has still not recommended any travel or trade restrictions and there was no evidence of sustained community transmission. However, the MERS-CoV has presented a large number of logistical problems related to the training. The number of secondary issues including cancellation of a large number of regular flights for resource persons and participants, withdrawal of participants, and some cancellation of site visits. This caused virtually impossible to proceed the workshop as scheduled.

As such, the organizing committee felt that it would be best to reschedule the training. We will determine the date as soon as is practicable and formally invite the selected participants again early next week.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to convene the workshop in due course.

Best regards,
UNITAR CIFAL Jeju / JITC
