– Centre International de Formation des Autorites et Leaders Jeju (CIFAL Jeju) organized
a webinar on “Making ESG Work for Sustainability: Good Governance”.
The webinar invited 304 participants from 43 countries, Algeria,
Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, China,
Congo, Ecuador, Fiji, France, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Italy,
Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea Republic of, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia,
Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda,
Singapore, South sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
The two-day webinar
was composed of six experts’ lectures, and plenary sessions. The first session
featured three invited experts, Mr. Benjamin McCarron, Founder & Managing
Director of Asia Research & Engagement(ARE), Mr. Steven C Kang, ESG
Platform Leader and Deputy Assurance Leader of Samil PwC Korea, and Mr. Vincent
Siegerink, Economist and Policy Analyst of Centre for Well-being, Inclusion,
Sustainability and Equal Opportunity, OECD. The speakers covered issues including
ESG transition and good governance, sustainable finance for ESG in Asia, and
sustainable data for the well-being.
On the following
day, three invited experts, Mr. Joon Soek, Executive Director of Morgan Stanley,
Prof. Jennifer Hill, Bob Baxt Chair of Corporate and Commercial Law of Monash
University Faculty of Law, Dr. Tim Bowley, Corporate law researcher of Monash
University, and Ms. Hyun Jung Kim, Managing Partner of IBM Consulting Korea, delivered
with a special focus on sustainable investing, corporate accountability, and
global case on governance over ESG strategy.
