1 February 2019, Jeju, Republic of Korea - Centre International de Formation des Autorités et
Leaders Jeju (CIFAL Jeju), together with Jeju National University co-organized
“Capacity-building Course on International Cooperation” in Jeju from 23 to 24
January 2019. This course was planned to strengthen the capacity of young
people by providing informative lectures as well as an opportunity to practice
making project proposals on international cooperation. Jeju National University
has been implementing ‘Global Public Diplomacy Training Project’ funded by the Ministry
of Education since October 2018 and this course was carried out as part of the
project. The 2-day course gathered 18 university students and three experts in
the area of international cooperation contributed to the course as a lecturer
and facilitator.
Here a few of the highlights below.
For the first session, Ma Youngsam, Director of CIFAL
Jeju, gave an informative lecture on how to pursue their future career to be
involved in international cooperation such as United Nations, international
organizations and ministry of foreign affairs.
The second session was facilitated by Lee Yangsook,
Head of International Cooperation Office, Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for
International Understanding (APCEIU) on the global citizenship as well as
practical examples of international cooperation project especially in the
education sector.
The third session was presented by An Choul Jin,
Planning and Budget officer of CIFAL Jeju on various strategies and methods for
planning an international cooperation project. During the session, he gave the
participants some tasks of making their own proposals on international
cooperation which motivated their active participation.
The next day, after the recap session, the participants had an opportunity
to present and share their own project proposals by group, which greatly
contributed to achieving the ultimate goals of the course; capacity-building on
international cooperation for participants.
