Nature and Divinity: ReimaginingTraditions through Artistic Exchange – Call for Applications

 

    UNITAR CIFAL Jeju invites youth artists from East Asian countries to apply for 'Nature and Divinity: ReimaginingTraditions through Artistic Exchange' program, designed to promote artistic exchange between Jeju and other East Asian countries through collaborative projects inspired by nature and local divinity. This program aims to foster innovative collaboration among East Asian artists by blending traditional practices with contemporary expressions, while building a sustainable creative network and raising awareness of intangible cultural heritage. We warmly encourage youth artists from China, Japan, and Mongolia to apply and take part in this global artistic journey.

 

 

1. Program Overview

Target Participants: Youth artists from East Asian countries

ProgramTheme: Reimagining traditions through artistic exchange of Nature and Divinity

Fields of Activity: Visual creations, multimedia presentations, live performances, interactive installations, and other contemporary art practices

Number of Participants: 6 in total - Two participants each from China, Japan, and Mongolia

Application Period: May 28 – June 17, 2025 (until 23:59 KST)

Support Provided : Round-trip airfare and a modest living allowance

Program Timeline

▶ May-June 2025 : Participant selection

▶ July : Online Orientation (1 day)

▶ August-September 2025 : Hosting Jeju artists in each participant’s city (minimum 1 month)

▶ October 2025 : Collaborative creation andexhibition in Jeju (minimum 1 month, including the 64th Tamna Cultural Festival)

* Hosting encompasses theme-based site visits, joint planning sessions, and artistic co-creation

* This program can also serve as an opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

 

2. Eligibility and Program Support

Eligibility Criteria

- Young artists active in the fields offine arts or creative industries

- Born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2005

- Able to communicate in basic English

- Eligible for international travel (i.e.no disqualifying restrictions)

Program Support

- Airfare: Round-trip economy-class airfare based on the lowest fare at the time of booking

*Airfare will be reimbursed after program completion.

- Living allowance: A modest stipend of approximately KRW 1,000,000 will be provided.

*This includes accommodation, meals, and all other related expenses.

- Airfare and living allowances are provided for the period from September to early October.

- Participants are responsible for additional costs, including local transportation and travel insurance

 

3. Application and Selection

Application Period: May 28 – June 17, 2025 (until 23:59 KST)
