UNITAR Jeju International Training Center (JITC) held an online capacity-building Workshop on “Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Early Warning Systems (EWS) for All through Effective Gender-Responsive Planning, Digital Government Transformation and Financing” on July 23 ~ 25, 2024. This Workshop was organized in collaboration with UN partners, such as UNPOG, UNDRR ONEA & GETI, and UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality. The Workshop, registered by approximately 3,000 participants from 149 Asia-Pacific developing countries was aimed at enhancing disaster response capacity with a special focus on strengthening protection through Early Warning Systems (EWS).

Throughout the Workshop, participants engaged in a series of lectures and case study presentations by experts, including UNDRR-led assessment and tools for enhancing Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS) at the local or national levels, UNPOG-led EWS through innovative digital government and technological means, UNITAR CIFAL Jeju-led financing frameworks for DRR and EWS, and UN Women-led gender-responsive planning and tools for DRR and EWS. Participants were also actively engaged in interactive quizzes and exercises to apply their learnings in future actions.

UNITAR 제주국제연수센터는 2024년 7월 23일부터 25일까지 "재난위험경감 대응 및 모두를 위한 보편적 조기경보시스템 확산을 위한 온라인 워크숍"을 주제로 온라인 역량강화 워크숍을 개최하였다. 이번 워크숍은 유엔거버넌스센터(UNPOG), 유엔 재난위험경감사무국 동북아시아 사무소 및 국제교육훈련연수원(UNDRR ONEA & GETI)과 유엔여성기구 성평등센터(UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality)와 협력하여 진행되었다. 아태지역을 중심으로 149개 개발도상국에서 약 3,000명이 등록한 이번 워크숍은 조기경보시스템(Early Warning Systems, EWS)을 통한 보호 강화를 중점으로 재난 대응 역량을 강화하는 것을 목표로 하였다.

워크숍 기간 동안 참가자들은 UNDRR 주도의 다재해 조기경보시스템(Multi-Hazard Early Warning System, MHEWS) 강화를 위한 현황 평가 및 도구, UNPOG 주도의 디지털 정부 및 기술을 활용한 EWS 혁신 사례, UNITAR 제주국제연수센터 주도의 재난위험경감(DRR) 및 조기경보시스템(EWS)을 위한 재원 조달 프레임워크, 그리고 UN Women 주도의 DRR 및 EWS를 위한 성인지적 계획과 도구 등 다양한 강의와 사례 발표에 참여했다. 또한 참가자들은 전문가와의 직접 접촉을 통한 퀴즈와 실습 활동에 적극적으로 참여하여 학습한 내용을 향후 활동 계획에 적용할 수 있는 기회를 가졌다.
