2020, Jeju, Republic of Korea - The International Training Centre for Authorities
and Leaders in Jeju (CIFAL Jeju) successfully concluded a series of
learning webinars on “Socio-economic response to COVID-19 towards economic
recovery – focusing on employment”. The webinar aimed to raise participants’
awareness on the critical issue of workforce impact in the context of COVID-19
and support the Asian Pacific government officials and leaders of society for
them to make and implement policies for inclusive and sustainable economic
development.
The webinar
featured two high profile speakers from the International Labour Organization,
including Mr. Christian Viegelahn and Mr. Felix Weidenkaff. They covered topics
around the world of work in Asia and the Pacific in the context of COVID-19 and
youth employment. After the presentations, participants had the opportunity to
engage in a panel discussion, through which they discussed cases in different
national settings.
Seventeen participants from the Asia-Pacific region, including Bangladesh,
Cambodia, the Philippines, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, and Tanzania engaged in
the discussions and expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the
events.
