The Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP) is part of the Governance Unit of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
The programme's main objective is to develop and strengthen the capacity of government authorities and civil society leaders to advance sustainable development by offering a variety of training and network opportunities.
DCP delivers its training through its CIFAL Global Network of 16 training centres located in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean.
In 2015 DCP trained more than 10,000 beneficiaries and held over 138 training events. The programme's targeted beneficiaries are key decision makers in developing countries, including:
- Public officials from national, sub-national and local governments
- Non-governmental and community-based organizations
- Academics
