2020, Jeju, Republic of Korea- The International Training Centre for
Authorities and Leaders in Jeju (CIFAL Jeju) successfully concluded a
series of learning webinars on “COVID-19 and ICT Accessibility: Digital
Resilience for Guaranteeing an Inclusive Society. The webinar aimed to raise
participants’ awareness on the criticality of digital accessibility in
establishing inclusive communities, and provide a platform for participants to
share best practices regarding the facilitation of digital accessibility in
creating an inclusive society.
The webinar
featured high profile speakers, including Dr. Bong-Keun Jung from Seoul
National University, Mr. Sean Doral from ITU Regional Office for the Asia and
the Pacific, and Dr. Nirmita Narashimhan from G3ict, that covered topics
related to inclusive ICT. After the presentations, participants had the
opportunity to engage in a panel discussion around the topic “What are the key
priorities in implementing strategies and policies on ICT accessibility in
different national settings?”
Twenty-five participants from the Asia-Pacific region, including
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, the Philippines, China, India, Mongol, Nepal,
Mozambique, Sri Lanka, and the Republic of Korea, engaged in the discussions
and expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the events.
