UNITAR Jeju International Training Center
(JITC) held an offline capacity-building Workshop on “A Pathway towards
Decarbonized and Cleaner Mobility in Asia and the Pacific – Envisioning green
possibilities of public mobility” in Jeju Island on April 30 ~ May 2, 2024. The
Workshop, attended by 17 participants from 8 Asia-Pacific developing countries
including the Philippines, Mongolia, and Indonesia, aimed at helping promote low-carbon
and cleaner public mobility solutions in the region. Throughout the Workshop,
participants engaged in expert lectures, including UNESCAP’s cleaner
transportation policy in the region, locally-tailored strategies for developing
public mobility policies, with a focus on the Avoid-Shift-Improve framework, opportunities
for funding and financing (GGGI), methodologies for drafting international
climate fund proposals, public mobility and pedestrian-friendly urban planning,
and case studies highlighting successful initiatives such as Korea's public
mobility financing mechanism, Seoul’s public transport renovation and Jeju's
15-minute city initiative. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to
develop green public mobility projects and action plans tailored to their
respective countries, leveraging the knowledge gained during the sessions. As
part of the program, they visited the 11th e-mobility Expo held concurrently in
the same week and CFI Future Energy Center to deepen their understanding of Jeju's
sustainable energy policy. UNITAR 제주국제연수센터는 2024년 4월 30일부터 5월 2일까지 아태지역 탄소중립을 위한 친환경 대중교통 구현 전략 모색을 주제로 제주에서 대면 워크숍을 개최하였다. 필리핀, 몽골, 인도네시아
등 아태지역 개도국 8개국에서 17명이 참석한 이번 워크숍은
UNESCAP의 아태지역 청정대중교통 정책, Avoid-Shift-Improve개념을
통한 지역별 맞춤형 대중교통정책, 기금 및 자문 확보 방안(GGGI),
기금확보 제안서 작성 방안, 한국의 기금 확보 방안과 대중교통 친화적 도시 계획, 서울의 대중교통 시스템 및 제주의 15분 도시 사례 등에 대한 전문가
강의가 있었다. 또한, 참가자들은 강의에서 습득한 지식을
바탕으로 자국의 친환경 대중교통 프로젝트(안)과 액션 플랜을
도출했다. 한편 참가자들은 같은 시기에 제주 ICC에서 개최된
국제 e-모빌리티 전시회를 참관하고 CFI 에너지 미래관을
방문하여 제주도의 친환경 에너지 정책에 대한 이해를 제고했다.
